Anna Melograni, founder and editor of this site, received her BA and post-graduate specialization diploma in Art History from the Università di Roma “La Sapienza”, and did graduate studies at the Université de Lausanne, Switzerland, before completing a Ph.D. at the University of Sussex, England, with a thesis on the ‘Cost and Production of Illuminated Manuscripts in Renaissance Italy’. Since 1991, she has been an official (art historian) at the Italian Ministry of Culture (Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali), where she is also an editor of the Ministry’s quarterly journal ’Bollettino d’arte’. From 2004 to 2007 she was a Junior Lecturer in Art History at the Università degli Studi di Siena, teaching a course called ‘Storia della miniatura e della ornamentazione del manoscritto’.
