Italian Art Society Grants (2016)

GRANTS: Italian Art Society (IAS).

Chair Janis Elliott (2016) leads the Awards Committee that awards travel and research grants to Italian Art Society (IAS) members engaged in the study of Italian art and architecture from prehistory to the present. The current Committee Members are Sally Cornelison (2017), Jill Pederson (2016), Judith Steinhoff (2017), and Eve Straussman-Pflanzer (2016). Applicants for IAS and IAS/Kress grants must be IAS members at the time of application and upon receipt and use of the award. Members who have received an IAS award in the past two years are not eligible to apply. IAS officers and committee members are not eligible to apply.

NEW! The IAS is pleased to announce a new IAS Dissertation Research Grant to be awarded to doctoral students who have reached candidacy and who are engaged in doctoral research – on any area of Italian art and architecture from prehistory to the present – to subsidize research travel and other expenses.

NEW! Beginning in 2016, the IAS Research and Publication Grant will be awarded only to scholars holding the Ph.D. to subsidize a research trip or a publication (i.e., for purchasing image rights or as a subvention for expenses incurred after receipt of the grant).

Thanks to the generosity of one of our patron members, Mr. Peter Fogliano, beginning in January of 2016, the IAS will be able to offer two new research grants of up to $1000 each for projects concerning art and architecture in Italy between ca. 1250 and ca. 1600. One will be for doctoral candidates engaged in dissertation research, and the other for holders of the Ph.D. These grants are named in honor of Peter Fogliano and Hal Lester. The Fogliano/Lester Research Grant projects will be selected from the pool of IAS Dissertation Grants and IAS Research and Publication Grants. Send applications and proposals to Janis Elliott.
